An ancient (for California standards) single-story shingled home originally sat on this almost island like property when Keith first visited the home located just a short distance from the firm’s office in Larkspur, CA.  Kirley was commissioned to create a new craftsman home, paying homage to the original estate while maintaining and repurposing as many materials as possible from the existing home. 

This new design includes the development of the property in a holistic manner connecting the proposed home to a new poolhouse/ADU and a rear yard area punctuated by a pool.  Robust, custom detailed rafter tails accentuate a new roof form and a much improved and expanded covered front porch that provides the perfect place to sit and appreciate the views of Mt. Tamalpais to the West.  Interior redwood paneling was salvaged to respect the heritage of the home and reclaimed redwood interiors will be used to mill both the cabinetry and the interior doors of the home.
