BOARD AND BATTEN RANCH
Larkspur, California

Kirley Architects was hired to transform an existing 1960’s era 2-bedroom ranch into a forever home for a family of local Marin residents. The proposed design focused on maximizing the development potential of the site through a complete transformation of the home’s floor plan layout. A second story was added, the floor plan of the first floor was completely reconfigured to include a spacious first floor primary suite, office and new open-concept kitchen and dining area. The second level expansion includes two new bedrooms with idyllic views of Mount Tamalpias. The exterior of the home included a new driveway into the property, new board and batten siding, metal clad windows and doors and a dark, standing-seam metal roof. A new indoor/outdoor bar area from the kitchen to the deck makes for the perfect summer afternoon hangout spot.
